Day 186, Morning

Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down to sleep; you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely. You surround me on all sides, and you lay your hand upon me. Knowing all of this is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to grasp.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in Hell, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hands will guide me and hold me.

—Psalm 139 (OT)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Read the passage again. Find a word or phrase that catches your eye or moves your heart. Slowly repeat it in your mind. Pray your thoughts, desires, needs, and feelings from your meditation. Say “yes” to love of God for you.

Prayer

Renewing God, it’s unimaginable to know your grace and not be renewed, bearing a crop of beautiful fruit in my life. Today, help me to do all I can to keep in step with the Spirit, catching all your rhythms of grace and love. Amen. (HC)
