Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

Don’t forget where your deepest strength comes from, for our war is not with people, but with that which drives them— dark powers and spiritual forces. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when evil comes, you are able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything just to stand, keep standing, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of goodness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the message of peace. And hold up the shield of faith, with which you can withstand the flaming arrows of evil. Take the helmet of healing and the sword of the Spirit, that which God has spoken to you.

—Ephesians 6 (NT)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Read the passage again. Find a word or phrase that catches your eye or moves your heart. Slowly repeat it in your mind. Pray your thoughts, desires, needs, and feelings from your meditation.

Prayer

Captain of my life, help me grasp the cosmic battle that rages in my heart and throughout the world. I’m in a fight far beyond my strength and understanding, so I pray that you make me wise and strong. Outfit me with all your spiritual armor, so that I can stand and not go down to defeat in this spiritual struggle. Amen. (HC)
