Day 197, Morning

Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

Therefore, since we have an ally who has ascended into heaven, Jesus, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For he is not one who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but one who was tempted in every way, just as we now are, yet he never gave in. Let us then approach the God of grace with confidence, where mercy and understanding wait to greet us, and help us in our time of greatest need.

—Hebrews 4 (NT)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Read the passage again. Is there a word or idea from it that stirs in you? Linger over it and give it your attention. Is there something you’d like to ask God about? Pray your life to God, and take a moment to rest and be present.

Prayer

God of love, when you went searching for Adam and Eve in the creation story, they hid from you and covered themselves in shame because of their sin.

Thank you that I need not respond in kind, for in you, there is nothing for me to fear. You made your true character known to me in the life of Jesus.

May I always run toward you instead of hiding, knowing that you search for me in the mess I’ve made, and that you long to heal me. (CiB)
