Day 149, Morning

Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

Love all that has been created by God, both the whole and every grain of sand. Love every leaf and every ray of light. Love the beasts and the birds, love the plants, love every separate fragment. If you love each separate fragment, you will understand the mystery of the whole resting in God.

—Dostoyevsky

Commentary

Most of us think of love as a one-to-one relationship, which is the limitation of love on the physical level. But there is no limit to our capacity to love. We can never be satisfied by loving just one person here, another there. Our need is to love completely, universally, without any reservations – in other words, to become love itself. (WLB)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness. As thoughts about the coming day begin to flood your mind, gently guide them back on to God, resting in infinite love.

Prayer

Almighty God, Ground of Being, Author and Sustainer of all life, give me courage today to love, and to love again. Give me courage today to forgive, and to forgive again. With the same love that I show to others, help me to also show to love myself, and in all of these loves, get a glimpse of your love for all of humankind. (CIB)
